Hello all
Today I wanted to go a bit for in depth, well not really in depth, its more of a gripe I have. So sorry to take it out on you. But hey you might just agree with me.
I always find it strange when people simply take the most literal meaning of something and then apply it like a formula and abracadabra whoosh a prayer and suddenly you there. I mean let’s be honest, it never happens that way, right? Its just our flippant nature I guess, but let me be straight with you. I have no doubt that sometimes things are simply what they are, but sometimes things have a bit more depth to it.
It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings…Proverbs 25vs2 ( for those of you that don’t know ) So I guess we can reason that this means we should at least attempt to look a bit deeper.
Without much further ado, my latest gripe is when people say that they come and agree and according to that scripture Jesus says it will be done.
“Again I say to you, if 2 of you agree on anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven”. Matt 18vs19.
Well if one reads it it seems to be saying exactly that hey…….. If lets say I want someone to meet Christ (I had to pick something “spiritual”), all I have to do is find another Christian to pray with me and “agree” then waaalaaaa that person will have to have a meeting with Christ because that is what the scripture says hey??????
Well lets get technical. The word agree in Greek (yes Greek) is the word “symphoneo” and for the the really technical the strong number is 4856. I will give you 2 guesses as to what word we derive from there in today’s language……
Ok so its pretty simple, the word agree, agreement and various related concepts. What I do want to point out here is what this word is closely linked to. Symphony. Now I am sure none of us have heard an orchestra playing a symphony of 1 note have we? I guess not simply because it can never be can it. The symphony only occurs when various components come together and “agree” but here is the important thing, those various instruments have to “stay in agreement” till the end to consider it a symphony. Don’t you think?
So yes at face value we could agree just at one point and it might occur, but I am more inclined to believe that it is the latter. If we agree, and walk in “symphony” until fruition well then it is done “by our Father in Heaven”…
THO
By the way, the word that symphony is derived from is symphonia (strong number 4858) which loosely means music. Just in case you think I lost it.
